Hey there, beautiful soul! I’m Brittany Harris.
Welcome to my kitchen corner of the internet, where comfort food meets real life, and every recipe comes with a story worth sharing.
I’m the heart and hands behind brittanyrecipes.com, but more than that, I’m a mom who burns dinner sometimes, a wife who still gets giddy when my husband asks for seconds, and a woman who believes that the most important ingredient in any dish isn’t listed in the recipe – it’s love.

Where It All Began
My love affair with cooking started in my grandmother’s kitchen when I was seven, standing on a wobbly step stool, flour in my hair and chocolate on my cheek. Grandma Rose had this magical way of turning the simplest ingredients into something that tasted like a warm hug. She never measured anything – just a pinch of this, a handful of that – yet everything she made was perfect.
“Honey,” she’d say, stirring a pot of her famous chicken and dumplings, “good food isn’t about fancy ingredients or perfect technique. It’s about putting your heart on the plate.”
Those words stuck with me through every subsequent kitchen adventure.
The Real Journey
Fast-forward to my early married days, when I could barely boil water without setting off the smoke alarm. My poor husband ate more takeout than any newlywed should! But something inside me refused to give up. Maybe it was Grandma Rose’s voice in my head, or perhaps it was the realization that I wanted our home to smell like love, not like whatever we’d ordered for delivery.
I started small – really small. My first successful meal was spaghetti with jarred sauce, and I was so proud you’d have thought I’d invented pasta. From there, I began collecting recipes like treasures, testing them on my patient family, and slowly building confidence one delicious mistake at a time.
The turning point came during a particularly chaotic Tuesday evening. I was juggling a fussy toddler, helping with homework for my older kids, and the eternal question: “What’s for dinner?” In desperation, I threw together what I now call my “Everything Casserole” – basically whatever was hiding in the fridge, layered with love and hope.
My kids devoured it. My husband asked for the recipe. And suddenly, I realized something beautiful: the most memorable meals aren’t the complicated ones—they’re the ones made with intention, creativity, and a healthy dose of “let’s see what happens.”
My Kitchen Philosophy
Here’s what I’ve learned after years of flour-dusted countertops and countless family dinners: great food doesn’t require a culinary degree or Instagram-perfect presentations. It requires something much simpler – the willingness to show up, try your best, and remember that cooking is really just another way of saying “I care about you.”
I believe in:
- Real ingredients for real people – You won’t find complicated techniques or impossible-to-pronounce ingredients here
- Mistakes are just learning moments – Every burnt batch teaches us something valuable
- The magic happens around the table – Food brings us together in ways nothing else can
- Simple can be spectacular – Sometimes the most amazing meals start with just five ingredients and a lot of heart
Why brittanyrecipes.com exists
This little corner of the internet was born from a simple desire: to share the joy I’ve found in my kitchen with anyone who needs it. Whether you’re a seasoned cook looking for fresh inspiration, a beginner who’s intimidated by anything more complex than cereal, or a busy parent just trying to get something nutritious on the table before bedtime, you belong here.
Every recipe I share has been tested in my kitchen, with my family, during our honest (and often chaotic) lives. If my picky eight-year-old approves, if my teenager actually puts down their phone to ask for seconds, if my husband does that little happy dance he thinks I don’t notice – then I know it’s ready to share with you.
But this space is about more than just recipes. It’s about preserving the traditions that matter, creating new memories that will last, and building a community of people who understand that food is love made visible.
The Stories That Matter Most
The messages you send me are pure gold. The mom who finally got her kids to eat vegetables thanks to my “sneaky” veggie mac and cheese. The college student who impressed their roommates with their one-pot pasta. The grandmother found a new cookie recipe to add to her holiday traditions. The dad who discovered he actually enjoys cooking after trying my foolproof chicken method.
These stories remind me why I do this work. It’s not about the perfect photo or the viral recipe – it’s about the moment when someone realizes they can create something delicious and meaningful in their kitchen.
A Little Kitchen Confession
Here’s my not-so-secret quirk: I talk to my food while I cook. I encourage my bread to rise, I compliment my onions while they caramelize, and I definitely give little pep talks to cakes while they’re in the oven. My family thinks I’m slightly crazy, but I swear it makes everything taste better!
I also have this habit of tasting everything at least three times during cooking – you know, to make sure it’s “developing properly.” My spoon collection has taken quite the beating over the years.
What’s Cooking Next
Every week, I’m in my kitchen dreaming up new ways to make your cooking life easier and more delicious. Whether it’s perfecting a weeknight dinner that comes together in 30 minutes, creating a dessert that will make your family think you’re a magician, or sharing the story behind a treasured family recipe, I’m always plotting my next kitchen adventure.
I’m constantly inspired by the changing seasons, my kids’ latest food obsessions, and the beautiful chaos of everyday life. Some of my best recipes have come from random Tuesday afternoons when I decided to experiment with whatever was in the pantry.
Let’s Cook Together
Here’s the thing about cooking – it’s so much better when we do it together. I may be the one writing the recipes, but you’re the one bringing them to life in your kitchen, adding your own touches, creating your own memories.
I’d love to hear about your kitchen adventures, your recipe modifications, your disasters-turned-triumphs, and those magical moments when a simple meal becomes a cherished memory. Drop me a line, leave a comment, or share a photo of your creations – your stories fuel my passion and inspire every recipe I share.
Whether you’re here for the foolproof weeknight dinners, the comfort food that tastes like a hug, or just the reminder that you’re not alone in this beautiful mess we call cooking, I’m so grateful you’ve found your way to my kitchen.
Let’s create something delicious together, one recipe at a time.
With love and flour-dusted aprons,
Brittany 💕
P.S. – Don’t forget to sign up for my weekly newsletter! Every Sunday, I share my latest kitchen discoveries, a sneak peek at upcoming recipes, and sometimes a funny story about whatever cooking adventure (or mishap) happened in my kitchen that week. It’s like getting a little note from a friend who happens to really love food.
