Description

Crunchy, hearty, and bursting with flavor, this Frito Taco Salad is a fun and satisfying twist on taco night! With seasoned beef, fresh veggies, and crispy corn chips, it’s a crowd-pleaser the whole family will love

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 oz taco seasoning (1 packet or 3 tbsp homemade)
  • 6 cups chopped iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup chopped fresh tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups Frito corn chips
  • ½ cup salsa
  • ½ cup Catalina dressing (or to taste)
  • Toppings as desired (peppers, onions, jalapeños, sour cream)

Instructions

Cook the Beef:

  • Brown ground beef in a frying pan over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  • Add taco seasoning and ½ cup water. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.

Assemble the Salad:

  • Place chopped lettuce in a large bowl.
  • Top with cooked beef, tomatoes, cheese, 1 cup of Frito corn chips, salsa, and desired toppings.

Dress and Serve:

  • Add Catalina dressing and toss well to combine.
  • Sprinkle the remaining corn chips on top and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Make it Your Own: Add black beans, corn, avocado, or olives for more variety.
  • Customize the Dressing: Try ranch or a spicy chipotle dressing for a flavor twist.
  • Serve Fresh: Toss the salad just before serving to keep the Fritos crispy.
