These Quick Sourdough Discard Cinnamon Rolls are perfect for a fast and delicious treat

Ingredients

Scale

Cinnamon Roll Dough:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup honey

Cinnamon Sugar Filling:

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon

Cream Cheese Topping:

  • 6 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13 baking dish or cast-iron skillet.
  2. Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Add sourdough discard, water, butter, and honey, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Roll the dough into a 1/4-inch thick rectangle.
  4. Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll up the dough tightly and slice into 12 even rolls.
  6. Place the rolls in the prepared dish and bake for 25-35 minutes until golden.
  7. Mix cream cheese, heavy cream, maple syrup (or honey), and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat for the frosting.
  8. Pour frosting over warm rolls before serving.
  9. Servings: 12

Notes

Use unflavored dental floss for clean, even cuts.

For a softer texture, place rolls closer together in the dish.
