Description
Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside! This Sourdough Grilled Cheese combines sharp cheddar and creamy gouda for the ultimate cheesy indulgence, all packed between two golden slices of sourdough.
Ingredients
- 2 slices sourdough bread (1/2 inch thick)
- 1–2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 1/4 oz sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 oz gouda cheese, grated
- 2 tsp butter
Instructions
1. Preheat a cast iron skillet to medium heat. Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
2. Add butter to the skillet and swirl. Place one slice of bread, mayo-side down, in the pan.
3. Add grated cheese on top, followed by the second slice of bread, mayo-side up.
4. Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown, pressing lightly with a spatula. Flip, and cook for another 3-4 minutes until both sides are crispy and cheese is melted.
5. Remove from heat, sprinkle with flaky salt, cut in half, and enjoy!
Notes
- Cover the skillet while cooking the first side to help the cheese melt evenly.
- Grating your cheese makes it melt smoother!
